Dr. Vogt’s research broadly applies bioengineering techniques, particularly functional MRI, to better understand human neuroscience relevant to anesthesiology and pain medicine. His current work seeks to identify brain systems-level changes that accompany pain relief with hypnotic agents, analgesics, and complimentary pain therapies. His work is funded by NIGMS. Dr. Vogt’s research comparing the central effects of midazolam and ketamine during the experience of acute pain was a featured article in Anesthesiology.
