Dr. Edna Evington earned her PhD from Virginia Commonwealth University, training as a behavioral pharmacologist. Her research examined the pharmacology of opioid analgesia in mice, where she used preclinical assays of pain-related behavioral depression because these assays have improved translational validity for predicting drug effects in humans. To further her interest in translational pain science, she completed a one-year postdoc at Duke University, focusing on clinical research. In her BUILD-UP T32 appointment, Dr. Evington will combine her passion for opioid pharmacology and clinical research with focus on chronic pain. In her spare time, she enjoys family activities and nature walks with her husband and Golden Retriever puppy, Max.
